Character Information

General

Canon Source: Full Metal Alchemist

Canon Format: Manga (and rebooted anime, pretty much the same thing)

Character's Name:Greed

Character's Age: around 200 give or take

What form will your character's NV take? His first NV will be linked with his glasses, which lets him view/read what’s going on in the network and make voice posts (the video pick up whatever he happens to be looking at.) Later he will steal another NV, likely from a greeter or stranger so he can make more effective video or text posts.

Abilities

Character's Canon Abilities:   As a Homunculi he is faster, stronger and more resilient than a normal human, he doesn't age and is immune to all sickness and poisons.

Aside from his core (which is essentially a philosopher stone) that revives him from death and regenerates him, he can alter his ‘skin’ into a black carbon based armor to create a shield. When completely shielded, it alters his appearance into a larger almost monstrous form that is nearly indestructible (as hard as diamond.)

Pulling up his shield, however, isn't an instantaneous process, rather it spreads across his skin when he summons it, and his body is still vulnerable before the shield covers it.  While he may seem immortal for the most part, the quicker and more often he’s “killed” the slower he is to recover and regenerate, (like a battery slowly losing its charge). If he takes enough damage before he can pull his shield up, he can potentially be worn down past his ability to recover.

Weapons: Greed can use his shield offensively in the form of claws, so he usually prefers to fight hand to hand, and due to his near indestructibility he’s a formidable opponent.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.

Character History: Greed is one of Seven Homunculus (artificial beings created through alchemy) that spawned from Father (who himself was the earliest known Homunculi, birthed inside a flask in the ancient country of Xerxes). After having used half the population of Xerxes in the creation of his body, Father himself became a Philosopher's Stone of sorts and became able to siphon off smaller stones from his body to create minions he calls his children. Each Homunculus, as a former part of Father's body and consciousness, is said to have been made up of a different emotional vice - corresponding to their name - and carries that vice as a part of their personality or identity.

Greed of course holds the vice of Avarice, and is the third oldest of ‘the children’.  He served Father with his siblings for almost a hundred years before he defected, deciding that serving father would deprive him of obtaining the power and wealth his own greed demanded.

He spends another hundred years on his own, fulfilling his nature’s desires for luxury, power, wealth and of course, pretty girls. When he shows up in canon, he’s the owner of a bar called the Devils Nest and the ring leader of a loyal band of human-chimeras that he freed from military experimentation.

By then, the only thing he still desired was true immortality, which leads him to kidnap Alfonse Elric, who is an independent soul bound to a suit of armor. Unfortunately his curiosity left him sticking his fingers in the wrong pie and it brought the military down upon him and his hide out. His chimeras were slaughtered and he was tracked down by King Bradley, or rather, the Homunculus Wrath.

The siblings duked it out before Bradley finally exhausted Greed’s regeneration abilities and ‘killed’ him, bringing him back to Father and the others, to reintroduce him to the fold, so to speak. Greed refused of course, having tasted freedom, and instead was melted down to his philosopher stone core which Father reabsorbed.

Here’s the rest from Wiki for TLDR.

Point in Canon: I’m taking Greed from around chapter 25 in the manga, just after he gets the snot beat out of him by King Bradley and before he’s melted down by father and later becomes Ling!Greed.

Character Personality: Above all else? Greed is greedy. Go figure. He always has an itching craving to have more, like the kid on the playground that thinks everyone’s toys are better than his, (even if he has five at home just like it.) Despite this, he’s considerably laid back when he’s content, with an easy sort of way about him that most people can’t help but find likable in the right circumstances… or incredibly infuriating.

He’s had years to practice getting what he wants, and isn’t past compromising as long as he’s the one that ends up with the better deal. Given the opportunity he’ll try to sweet talk his way into getting what he wants first, then bargaining, then intimidation before simply taking it.

Even if he can be the ‘bigger’ bully, he finds playing nice suites him better and will often bide his time for months in pursuit of something he really wants. Not that he still won’t lie, cheat and steal to get anything.

Greed is always curious; just as hungry for knowledge as he is everything else, though he has no interest in complicated subjects that require a great deal of boring explanation, rather, he has more of the curious sense of a child, or an over grown house cat-- just enough to find out the where’s and when’s and what happens if I touch this? In that same token, he’ll accept most answers at face value, however strange they might be.

Not to say that he’s unintelligent, he’s a fast learner and can wrap his mind around the most complicated of schemes… he would just rather not exert too much effort into something when there’s always an easier way to go about it… or when he can simply have someone else do the work for him.

He’s not all want and take, amongst his less than admirable qualities he manages to be quite loyal to those that are good to him, though he’s still sorting out the difference between having friends and seeing his companions as ‘his things’ that he takes care of. Greed’s concept of humanity is still a work in progress.

Character Plans: Greed will fit in Siren’s port just fine and will probably fall in with AGI quick enough provided they appeal to his avaricious nature (and of course, why wouldn’t they?) I imagine he will do what he can to amass himself with a starting fortune to work with and settle in snug as a bug in the entertainment district.

He’ll probably get along with the villainous sort, and can be easily bribed into starting trouble or tangling with any problematic do-gooders. He’s social and inquisitive enough to worm his way into plenty of plots, either as an instigator or a handy accomplice.

He can also function outside after sirens, though he has no interest in fighting or killing the creatures that come out after dark, and, in all honesty, in his shielded form, he’d probably pass for a monster himself.

Appearance/PB: Greed from the anime. And in his ‘ultimate shield’ form.

Writing Samples

First Person Sample

[When the feed kicks on, it’s like a camera rolling on a view of the baseball diamond, or rather a wall that’s all peeling paint and signs of welcomes, warnings and corporation slander and propaganda. The view drops down to dying grass a pair of pointed boots scuffed from the dirt and rocks from a potential fall. Yeah, it’s a lot like looking through someone else’s eyes.]

Sirens port, huh? Now that’s interesting. [There’s a smooth sort of masculine drawl to the voice, hints of amusement and yup, we're going on a long walk.   It's finally past a dingy window that his reflection can be seen, and he stops to peer at himself, reaching up to press his glasses up the bridge of his nose, trying to sort out everything the feed is giving him.]

I can see that you're all so busy.  But how about we take a moment to make a new friend, Hmm?

[He grins and there's a mouthful of sharp teeth that might be the opposite of friendly]

Looks like I'm lost and far away from home. [His voice mimicks one of sadness for a moment as he wipes away an imaginary tear.  Then that smile again.]

Doesn't  matter, I was done with that place anyway.   So how about it, Sirens Port,  won't you come show your new pal everything this place has to offer?

I really can't wait.

Third Person Sample

He’s never been any place like this before; never had a city seemed so endless and bright with its towering buildings and glittering lights. It’s not dark yet but it’s creeping closer, and Greed is so terribly enamored with this place already, every sight, smell and sound. It leaves him itching to explore, but he doesn’t know where to start.

He’d missed the greeters, but a stranger had pushed a flyer into his hand as he’d passed, and he stands now peering down at the crumpled piece of paper in his hands. It was advertisement for a club… and wasn’t that terribly convenient?

“Sounds like a place where everyone with bad vices hide.” He hums to himself, because of course he knows a thing or two about bad vices, so how can he resist?

Greed pockets the paper and walks, he doesn’t know quite where he’s going, but there’s plenty of people to ask… even if they seem to be in a bit of a hurry as if they’re racing the setting sun.
